The Rainbow Flag is a universal symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) pride and LGBTQ social movements.
Its history can be traced back to 1978 at the San Francisco Pride Parade, when artist Gilbert Baker made a handmade flag for the parade.
When Gilbert was asked why he chose the colors of the rainbow, he said "I chose those colors because they are beautiful. Everybody ought to have a flag like this."
Red represents life, orange then symbolizes healing, yellow symbolizes sunlight and warmth, green represents nature and blue for harmony and spirituality. Indigo is used as a complementary color to represent the spirit of those who are lesbian or gay.
